Carlton Hydraulics supplies specialist hydraulic hose and fittings, with a reputation built on 40 years of hands-on expertise. Our task was to design and build a new WordPress website that did justice to those four decades of technical know-how.
Carlton Hydraulics has steadily built its reputation with decades of specialist knowledge. That depth of expertise needed a website to reflect it: one with a structure clear enough for engineers and buyers to find what they needed quickly; copy that worked for both audiences; and a design that looked as solid and dependable as the business itself.
We started with the architecture, planning a clear structure that let customers move quickly between product categories and technical detail without getting lost. The copy was written to do two jobs at once: accurate enough for an engineer to trust; plain enough for any buyer to follow. And every page was optimised for search, from keywords through to metadata, page structure and internal linking, so the site could be found as well as understood.
We built it all on a fully responsive WordPress platform, with flexible page templates and reusable content modules that mean the Carlton team can manage future updates themselves. Each product page was structured around the customer journey, with clear calls to action and quote requests built in at the right points, rather than left to chance.
The design itself took its cues from the business: clean, industrial and built to reflect the reliability that Carlton’s customers have come to expect. The whole site was optimised for performance, accessibility and modern web standards. That means it’s fast and secure, as well as good-looking. The result is a platform that’s ready to grow with Carlton, supporting ongoing SEO work and an expanding product range for years to come.
